Problems in the elderly patients who have treated with hemodialysis

Abstract

|
|
The present study was to identify some problems of the elderly patients who have treated with hemodialysis. The research method of identifying the problems was to review charts written from the late 1997 to the early 1998 for 109 patients. According to the charts, most of the patients suffered from hypertension and/or diabetes, and they took hemodialysis at least 3 times a week. In addition, about ¾ of the patients needed ultrafiltration due to weight gain before taking hemodialysis. The findings suggested that the elderly patients were given the proper diet and health care by themselves and their family caretakers.
